The One with October 2021

 Here’s the spooky on October!

There was gallivanting around the grounds of a haunted winery and cemetery with a good friend.

Fire nights are back.

There was lots of outdoor reading time. Queenie was especially interested in my Book of the Month selections.

And there was family book club. Festive treats and all.

Weston camping weekend had been planned for months but, due to a rainy forecast, we pivoted at the last minute and stayed in a camper. I’m thankful for family, friends, laughs, apples, tobacco, books, and memories. Forever thankful for time with these favorites and forever making our own hashtags. #howboutthemapples #lilb #pivot

My best favorite was scheduled to run an errand in Warrensburg and, knowing that I’m always up for a trip the to The Burg, he insisted I go too so he could take me to lunch. It was a nice break in routine and I loved showing off more of the town that holds so many memories for me.

There were many good eats in October.
Birthday cake. *All Things Sweet - Lee’s Summit, MO

Pan seared salmon with bacon Parmesan parsley risotto and asparagus. *Smoke Brewing Co - Lee’s Summit, MO

The best baked Brie I’ve ever had- and I’ve had a lot of baked Brie. *Summit Grill - Lee’s Summit, MO

One of my favorite littles had a birthday so I went to cheer and celebrate at her soccer game. It was ungodly hot for an October day and although I got a sunburn it was worth it.

My parents, my best favorite, and I went to Union Station for the Holocaust Exhibit: “Not long ago. Not far away.” The exhibit was exceptional. Our only real complaint was the amount of people there at the same time. By the time I got to the video about the death march from Auschwitz I had sat down to rest my aching back and feet. The irony was not lost on me that I was tired from standing for two hours while the history playing before my eyes was of those marching for days on end with no mercy shown to them. My privilege  blared at me so loudly that I almost couldn’t hear the video.

There was also a trip to Minneapolis, Minnesota for my best favorite’s birthday and for our fifth annual away game. We caught up with friends while we were there, shopped for books, sipped whiskey cocktails and local beers, and made an impromptu drive to Duluth to see Lake Superior.

Last but never least, proof of pup spoils. Remy got extra lovins because he celebrated his 13th birthday.

See ya next month

Here’s to doing something. What are you doing to justify your existence?
