The One with May 2021

Mint juleps, big hats, and the Kentucky Derby signaled the beginning of May! What a race!

When a friend has a Cinqo de Mayo birthday and invites you to dinner, you go!

Family book club reunited in person! We laughed, we shared, we learned, we drank. And I got a sunburn. I am thankful for every second of our time together.

May marked the five year anniversary of my Best Favorite’s move to Missouri. We celebrated with a walk around Westport and a couple of our favorite KC meals- Jerusalem Cafe and Joe’s KC BBQ.

My Best Favorite took me on a Mother’s Day date to the Sporting KC soccer game. We played the team that Matthew McConaughey owns and that our old captain plays for, so naturally we packed their books and took them with us. Next time, we get autographs.

We have been preparing for a garage sale and my parents have been cleaning out the basement. This was a huge motivation to clean out my Barbie collection, finally. What a venture into the past.

My dad turned 65 in May. We celebrated around the fire with beer and brownies.

COVID put a pause on our regular croquet matches, but in May they resumed. Happily, the third match was just played and this time with festive cookies and matching tee shirts. Not so happily, the same person has won the trophy all three matches. At least I made it to the championship this time.

Could I have been any more excited for the FRIENDS reunion?! My Best Favorite, my parents, and I had a watch party. We laughed. We cried. We laughed some more.

Many months ago, when we realized there was a babe on the way, we started planning a trip to Colorado to meet her. It was such a nice trip home meeting the baby and being with family.

As always, the pups continue to be spoiled beyond belief!

Here’s to green lights, friendly competition, reunions, and new life.
