The One with July 2021

Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays and I have been craving some time on the water, so my best favorite and I found ourselves at the lake to celebrate. Although things started with a call to AAA to retrieve keys from a locked car, paddle boarding to the middle of the lake with friends to watch the fireworks over the dam made everything worth it. Paddle boarding was a new experience for me and it’s one I hope to make a regular activity.

Oh, we also celebrated the holiday with some pickle ball.

There was also live music and outdoor eats over the holiday weekend. I knew I missed live music, but damn, I didn’t realize how much I missed it.

My best favorite and I had some time off together and after much debate we decided on staycationing in KC. We attempted naps in the shade at Powell Gardens, had a fire night, and had friends over to play board games.

Royals family night. Other than obscenely long concession lines it was a great night and a great win! We all managed to stay awake for the post-game fireworks and it was incredible.

There was a neighborhood picnic in my parents’ subdivision, so we took advantage of a free sack lunch and wandered around the park.

Last month I accidentally bought mini golf tickets for the wrong day to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Although it would have been much cooler last month it worked out just fine going this month instead. Better than fine because it turned into an entire weekend of fun and celebration. We mini golfed at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art and briefly traipsed through the museum before enjoying an iconic meal at Winsteads. The next day we added our guys to the adventure and went to the Iron District for drinks, live music, and fun. We also played pickle ball and ate dinner at Chicken N Pickle. It’s fantastic having friends who want to celebrate all the things.

Obligatory pup photos. Proof that they’re still spoiled.

Honorary pup photo of pup friend.

There was reading for school.

And there was reading for pleasure. Book tally for the year: 36

Oh, and there was more pickle ball!

We had been planning to be in Europe this month for a wedding and for all the reasons we were unable to go. While I absolutely missed being with my French family to celebrate another sister wedding July was still a lot of fun. And there was much to celebrate here like my best favorite now taking classes too and making notable forward movement with my business. I hope to share many things soon but they’re not quite ready just yet.

Here’s to celebrating and staycationing.
